Paper "Egyptian cat, Since the Twenty-Second Dynasty, the cat has been the animal of the goddess Bastet. Extensive cat cemeteries were laid out in Bubastis in the Delta, the major site of her worship. Cats were set up in the temple of Bastet as votive offerings. (W.
